Bridesmaids
The members or friends from the side of the bride in the
wedding are her bridesmaids. They are usually young women who are typically the
bride’s sisters or friends. They are the ones who have the duty to attend to the
bride on her day of wedding during the ceremony. Usually bridesmaids are those
women who are not married and are at the age of marriage. There is also a main
bridesmaid in some of the weddings who is known as the maid of honor or the
chief bridesmaid if she is not married and if she is married then she is called
the matron of honor. A young girl who is not at the age of the marriage but is
added to the ceremony as an honorary bridesmaid is called a junior bridesmaid.
Usually most of the weddings have more than one bridesmaid and in the recent
times, the bride decides how many bridesmaids to ask for. In the olden days it
was a duty to add all the major family girls as bridesmaids so that nobody was
left unattended. This was a sign of wealth and social status for the families.
These bridesmaids in huge groups were a symbol of the wealth and extravagance
of the families. Nowadays, the bridesmaids in the weddings are not fixed. They
depend on the preferences of the bride, the family size as well as her partners
consent on the number of attendants.
Importance of black dress
Since bridesmaids have a special role in the event of their
friends/sisters marriage, they must be dressed perfectly to catch everyone’s
eye. Usually the bridesmaids wear same colored clothes that match or contrast
with the bride’s dress. A number of brides chose seasonal colors for the
dresses of their bridesmaids but the contrast of black and red dress with the
white dress of a bride compliment the most and give a perfect look. Black bridesmaid dresses are a
great combination to be followed. Standing in the same black colored dresses
along with the bride in the altar, a vision worth remembering can be created
for the guests.
Fabric
Black bridesmaid dresses create a
very warm and soothing effect. They look good in many fabrics like satin,
taffeta, georgette and chiffon. The dresses are prepared with special care so
as to match perfectly with each other as well as with the brides dress.
Styles
There are a number of styles and cuts available for black bridesmaid dresses. They can
be of different lengths like full length gowns, knee-length, and tea-length or
short lengthened. These dresses can be long ball gowns, mermaid dresses,
A-line, trumpet style or baby doll dresses. They are embellished with laces,
truffles, brooches, sequins, beads and embroideries. The shoes that compliment
such dresses are usually high heels. Also, the matching jewelry like drop
earrings or pendants can enhance the look of the black bridesmaid dresses. They
shining silver jewelry can also balance the dark effect of the black color and
bring neutrality.
